2 hours to the 2010 NBA Draft
Sounds like its possible Ainge trades down, should make it an interesting draft.
I would love it if Xavier Henry (and to a lesser degree Paul George), or Patrick Patterson fell to the C’s at 19.
Since I don’t think they will slip, my “board” at 19 is:
James Anderson
Damion James
Larry Sanders (this is my irrational pick this year)
Avery Bradley
Eric Bledsoe
Long...

2009 offseason v1.0
Don’t have as good a feel for this offseason as in the past, but my quick wishlist given our current roster 12 players + Big Baby Davis (restricted FA):
Rondo R. Allen Pierce Garnett Perkins
House Big Baby Davis (R.F.A) Scalabrine B. Walker Giddens T. Allen Pruitt Hudson
1. Resign Marbury at $1.4M using his non-bird rights. I must say that I’ve only recently come around to this...

Quick thoughts on losing KG for the 2009 Playoffs
1. Even if this is the begining of the end. It was all worth it. Every minute of last season was worth it. We won #17. Case closed.
2. I don’t think this is the end. We’ve still got a very good team and will go down fighting. How much does this pull the team together? We’re about to see what Ubuntu is made of. Beating ORL, LA and CLE just got a lot harder but not impossible.

5 Hours to the Trade Deadline Wishlist
As with last year any moves just before or just after the deadline are aimed at bolstering the bench.
Chances are looking much better that we may be able to add one or both of Joe Smith and/or Stephon Marbury. Smith would be a great addition — in part because we’d have the inside track for signing him for next season (like with Cassell this season). I’ve cooled considerably on Marbury...

Before the House & Allen signings
Before Eddie House and Tony Allen were brought back into the fold, I stepped back and took a look at the possible shift in philosophy Ainge had hinted at and looked at the resultant possibilities for the final 3 roster spots:
OK, this is admittedly still only a partially formed concept, but here’s a stab at what/who Danny might be targetting — especially in light of his comments about...

Offseason Plan v2.1 (post-draft)
Following last week’s CelticStuffLive, I was better able to articulate DAHAP Plan v2.1 and went so far as to start writing it up. At the time it looked like we were gonna be choosing between James Posey and Corey Maggette. What a difference 72 hours make. Maggette is signing with Golden St. and Posey continues to be linked to just about every playoff team. Rather than go back and edit my now...

Offseason Plan v1.0 (pre-draft)
Here’s what I’d like to see the NBA Champion Celtics do this offseason. FYI, last year we were ~ $6-7 Million over the Luxury Tax limit. By my calculations the lowest we could get over the Lux Tax is $5.6 M (i.e. getting rid of Scal, Posey, signing vet guys) and the most we could go (using all our exceptions) is $16.8M. So it’s gonna be more than last season. My plan puts us...

What Would Gene Do?
What Would Gene Do? In honor of long-time IGTCer Gene K. I was going to attempt a full 1st round mock draft, but my head hurts from all the moves. Instead here are guys i like and think will be better than expected and guys i think will be a bust. In some ways the draft was more fun when the C’s were picking low b/c there were more guys to say “pick, pick!!” or “beware!!”. At #30 we just take the...

We interrupt this run to the Finals with....
What a joy to be wrapped up in a run to the NBA Finals during tonights NBA Draft Lottery. I’ll gladly take the #30 pick that goes along with having the best record in the League this year. My first “big board”, hours after the NBA Draft Lottery, & based — as always — on hunches, mock drafts and know-it-all-ness. I’ll make maybe 2 more lists prior to the...

18 hours until the 2008 Trade Deadline
With the best record in the NBA, you could argue that the C’s don’t need much. But the basic consensus is that we still need to add at least one more big man and probably a 2nd or 3rd point guard — depending on how you view Eddie House (I like him a lot). These are 2 minor moves I’d like to see Ainge make: 1. Trade our 2008 2nd round pick & the $1 Million Trade...

the last 2 guys
right now the roster stands, effectively, at 13. Rondo / House R. Allen / Pruitt Pierce / Scalabrine / B. Wallace Garnett / Powe / G. Davis Perkins / Pollard Inj: T. Allen Gabe Pruitt and Glen Davis are unsigned but i think that’s a mere formality while Ainge sees what else shakes out in the FA market. Jackie Manuel will likely be a training camp cut, as by all reports his contract...
tip-off
so the purpose of this is really, really simple: to document my hair-brained ideas about what i’d do if i was running my favorite team, the boston celtics. I’m gonna go back and try and find some posts on the IGTC archives for historical record (good: i wanted to sign Mikki Moore when he left Seattle 2 years ago; bad: i wanted to draft Desagana Diop at #11 in 2001).
